About Us

JVB Preksha Meditation Center is a unique 3600 sq ft pyramid shaped meditation hall along with a
building housing the temple, Gyanshala class rooms, library and kitchen. Facilities have been designed to
meet the anticipated needs for the foreseeable future. Surrounded by a lake in the front, woods in the
back and two important religious institutions on either side of us – Arya Samaj to the right and Durga
Bari Temple to the left – we are ideally situated to offer a unique and peaceful environment to indulge
in the quest of Spirituality. We are an extended family of like-minded people who come together to
understand the basics of Jainism and apply it in our daily lives. We introduce the Houston community to
the art and science of Preksha Meditation. Practicing it on a daily basis helps an individual to lead a
happy, healthy and a very productive life.

We offer programs of interest to children, adults, and seniors alike and our doors are open to all those
who have an interest in learning about the Jain way of Life.
The JVB centers in the US and elsewhere came about because of Acharya Tulsi and Acharya Mahapragya
Jis’ vision of spreading Lord Mahaveer’s message (Ahinsa, Anekant and Aparigrah) to far corners of the
world. All JVB centers do that. In Houston we do it through the four pillars:
1. Gyanshala – Introduces the children to our culture, our values, our sanskars and helps them in
discovering their identity
2. Preksha Meditation – Helps the community in achieving physical, mental, emotional, and
spiritual balance
3. Spiritual Discourses – Help the community in learning about the Jain way of life and in
discovering a sense of purpose which is broader than this life
4. Community Outreach – Seek opportunities to spread Lord Mahaveer’s message to the broader
community with the aim of creating harmony and peace in the society
Looking to the future we aspire to become an institution where people of all colors, religious beliefs and
race come together to find meaning in their lives, answers to their dilemmas, peace, support and mutual
respect. In a true sense, we wish to be known as a light house for the Houston community that shines a
path for all living beings – a path of self-fulfillment, peace, and happiness.
