The inspiration to establish a center of this type in Houston came from a very successful 3-day camp on Preksha Meditation at Arya Samaj premises in October 1998. &nbsp;Mr. and Mrs. Sunil Mehta made significant contributions in helping to start this center by offering initial premises as well as accommodation for Samani Jis\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">From that humble beginning to the current state of the art Meditation Center, many people have played a key role, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Swatantra Jain. Today, the center is managed by the Board of Directors and an Executive committee and guided by the presence of our learned Samani Jis\u2019 (Jain ascetics) who are assigned by and under the auspicious guidance of Acharya Mahashraman ji, the spiritual head of Jain Vishwa Bharati, India. In service to the community, the overarching aim of the center is to spread Bhagwan Mahavir\u2019s message of Ahinsa Parmo Dharmo to a diverse Houston community (Jains and Non-Jains alike). In so doing, we hope to promote peace through enlightened thinking and strong&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">personal values which will also lead to spiritual upliftment within individuals across the&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;
